Wayne started building this remodeling life with his thrifty uncle Harold, a carpenter in Austin Minnesota. Harold made Wayne pull nails and straighten them for hours on end. When Wayne moved to the Twin Cities in the 1980’s, he scrapped together what he could with landscaping in the summer and carpentry in the winter. For years, his business was Wayne’s Landscaping, and then Wayne’s Landscaping & Carpentry. Original names, no. Quality, dependable work, yes.
In 1998, Wayne and his wife, Kiki, embarked on the design and build of their own home. They disassembled an old barn in Vasa, MN and used everything they could to build their modified timber-frame home. Wayne made all the mistakes he could on his own house, so he could give you the best!
Finally, in the early twenty first century, Wayne’s elbows got tired of hammering rock and lifting boulders. He was always a precise landscaper waiting for his inner remodeler to appear. So, now it’s just carpentry. No more landscaping, although he always has ideas.
Augustin Remodeling has become the go-to, word-of-mouth, remodeling business in western Wisconsin. Wayne loves unusual projects, and Kiki is always a backup designer.
Wayne has had many people working with him over the years, but Carl Fristad has hung in there longer than anyone and he has perfect complementary skills. Carl is an artist, fine woodworker, and carpenter with a degree from MCAD. They are the dream team who will delight you especially if donuts or pie are involved.
Beware that Wayne has a charming tendency to leave coffee mugs and a few small tools wherever he goes. If found, please return.
